[Website under construction but completed through the Fourth Century.  Check back often as the website grows frequently.  The Fifth Century is scheduled to be added by the end of January 2009.]

Click on any of the centuries to the left and enjoy learning about Church History.

Layout of pages:  Each century has five components:  (1) a timeline with some instruction, (2) links to additional information on selected topics, under the heading More info and centered on the page, (3) Explanation and commentary on selected topics, under the heading The Big Picture and centered on the page, and (4) Primary source material, which is located at the bottom; links connect the primary source material to the timeline and vice versa, and (5) a Bibliography.  Example below:

--------------------

(1) 95     Some instruction on what happened in that year.

(2) More info:  a link to another page with additional information.

(3) The Big Picture

(4) Primary Sources

Purpose of website:  I have learned in teaching church history over fifteen years that a lot of people enjoy learning about church history but do not know how to go about it in an organized, systematic way.  So interested people read bits and pieces from throughout the history of Christianity, but do not know how to tie it together in one long seamless story.  This website will (hopefully!) do that for you.  While the projected completion date is not until the summer of 2010, I will add information frequently.  And I will add to it chronologically, so you will be able to watch Christianity developing before your eyes.  And perhaps you will be as thrilled reading about Church History as I am in studying and preparing this website.  And always feel free to email me.
